Elmyra Gainsborough, who had arrived at the station while waiting for her husband to return from the Wutai War, took Aerith in to her home in the Sector 5 slums. In 1992, Ifalna arrived in the Sector 7 Undercity Station with her daughter Aerith. At some point, Shinra constructed the Shinra Underground Test Site beneath Sector 7. The town once had a name, but as with the rest of Midgar's sectors, none of its residents remember it. Sector 7 existed as a town in Midgar, and the plate above the town began construction by Shinra in 1976.
